I used to have the belief that my body didn’t work the way other people’s bodies worked.
I believed that unless I severely controlled my food, I would gain a lot of weight.
I didn’t trust my body and I didn’t trust my appetite.
I believed I was abnormal.
These are only some of the Limiting Beliefs that I used to have about my body and food and my weight.
Limiting Beliefs are beliefs you hold dearly and BELIEVE as truth, about yourself, about the world, and about others, that HOLD YOU BACK. They are often all-or-nothing, always-never, I-Can’t, I’m-not statements.
Here are some of the Limiting Beliefs that have been shared with me in my work as a nutrition counselor and energy healer:
I can’t ever eat 100% plant-based.
I can’t eat a healthy diet because it takes too much time.
I can’t eat healthy meals because I hate cooking.
I will never be the weight I want to be because everyone in my family is overweight.
Everyone in my family gets heart disease.
My family won’t eat that kind of food.
We ALL have Limiting Beliefs that are standing in our way of moving forward. So what do we do about it?
First, we have to identify our beliefs. Take a moment to write down some of the things you believe about yourself, your body, your health.
Step 3 of my New You Whole Person Approach is Listen Between the Lines. As a highly sensitive person, I use my intuition to “listen between the lines” to the language you use and how you describe your beliefs about what you think you can achieve. Together we will create little steps to transform those beliefs from self-limiting to empowering.
