Express yourself
Express yourself
See it’s not what you look like,
When you’re doing what you’re doin’
Express yourself
____lyrics to song by Charles Wright
Last month we explored the throat chakra (energy center at the base of the throat) as part of my monthly Group Energy Activations. In this series we have explored each of the chakras and their relationship to the physical body, how imbalances manifest and how it all relates to our relationship with food.
The throat chakra is all about expression, making choices and decisions, and using our voice.
The mouth and throat are the entry point for food and liquids. So it makes sense that any imbalances here could have a profound effect on our relationship with food and how we eat.
Do you have difficulty making decisions about food?
Do you feel afraid to try new foods?
Are you able to express your needs about food choices and meal times?
Food decisions can be difficult if we are listening to a lot of “shoulds” and “shouldn’ts” and try to do what others are doing with food even if it doesn’t feel right to us.
Being afraid of new foods ( or change!) can really keep us locked in a boring food prison. It may feel safe for a while but the boredom will eventually lead to a need for stimulation or possibly a food binge because our needs are not being met.
Expressing what we need comes from a place of confidence and knowing ourselves, and knowing that we deserve to take care of ourselves even if it looks different than somebody else. For example, do you wait to eat a meal even if it is late in the evening just because you think you’re supposed to eat that meal with your partner? Or do you eat whatever everyone else is eating even though you know the particular food doesn’t work for you body and will make you feel yuck?
Take a moment to write down how you express yourself through your food choices and the way that you eat. Do you see any patterns? Any fears? Are you making food decisions from a place of POWERful Expression or is something holding you back?
I invite you to share some of your observations with me during a Discovery Call. Please go here to schedule your conversation with me. I can’t wait to connect with you soon!
Until we connect soon, I wish you love & joy,
